Become an associate Food & Beverage Inspector

Join the EFBI

We're always looking for experienced food safety, environmental health and event professionals to join our growing network of associate Food & Beverage Inspectors (aFBI). If you're passionate about food safety at events and want to work with some of the UK's biggest festivals and venues, we'd love to hear from you.

What is an aFBI?

An associate Food & Beverage Inspector (aFBI) works alongside the EFBI team at events across the UK, carrying out food safety inspections, compliance checks, and trader assessments on behalf of event organisers.

You'll be deployed to festivals, sporting events and large-scale public gatherings, often working independently but supported by EFBI's systems, documentation, and expertise.

This is freelance, event-by-event work. You choose how many events you take on each season.

What we look for

Food safety qualifications

A relevant qualification such as a Food Safety Supervision certificate, RSPH/CIEH Level 3 or 4, or equivalent. Environmental Health Officer (EHO) background is highly valued.

Event experience

Previous experience working at festivals, outdoor events, or large public gatherings — whether in an EH, food safety, or operational capacity.

Flexibility and mobility

Events happen across the UK, often at weekends and during summer months. Willingness to travel is essential.

Professional and self-sufficient

You'll be working on-site with minimal supervision. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to make sound judgements under pressure are a must.

We provide training

Whilst qualifications and experience are important. However all our associates and employees are trained on the EFBI approach, standards and systems. We keep you up to date with the latest guidance and operate regular refresher and consistency training.
